Uncover the secrets of radio waves and 5G

© Luxembourg Science Center

Since opening in 2017, the Luxembourg Science Center has been the ideal place for visitors who want to explore the world of science. Interactive experimental stations await eager researchers, and active scientists explain the background in over 20 science shows.

This workshop is all about communication technologies; Through a series of didactic experimental demonstrations, you will immerse yourself in the area of low-frequency electromagnetic waves - radio and microwaves. In addition to the basics of sending and receiving these waves, you will also learn more about the areas of use of radio frequencies and thus learn more about the many invisible frequency ranges that have become an integral part of our everyday lives - from radio waves to mobile communications (such as 5G) or gigahertz WiFi and more.

The following are treated, among other things:

  •      Physics of waves
  •      Interference
  •      Stationary waves
  •      impedance
  •      waveguide
  •      5G antenna
  •      Coaxial cable vs. fiber optic
